Nancy Wilson and Maisie Richardson

The Jazz singer Nancy Wilson a three-time Grammy Award winner was born February 20 1937 in the city of Chillicothe, Ohio. Her parents were ironworker Olden Wilson, and former Lillian Ryan who worked as a housekeeper. Nancy Wilson was only child of six. Her father's love of music and the records he played at home had a major influence on Nancy at the age of a girl. By the age of four, Nancy was aware that she wanted to be an accomplished musician. She discovered her talent for music through singing in church choirs. While still in high-school the singer was regularly featured with Skyline Melodies. The same year when she was working, she began performing in nightclubs. Nancy completed high school aged 17 and enrolled in the Ohio's Central State College, now Central State University for a whole year. After that, she left to pursue a job as professional musician. Her first recording was with Rusty Bryant's Carolyn Club Big Band in 1956 with whom she performed from 1956 until 1958. Nancy's very first Dot Records recording was made while she was in the big band of the Carolyn Club. Cannonball Aderley suggested that she relocate into New York so as to enhance her career. In 1959 she moved in The Big Town. Adderley's Agent heard her at The Blue Morocco Night Club, Boston Road, The Bronx and she then signed her contract. Within one month after her arrival to New York, she was in the city. She made her recording debut in the year 1960, with a single after he obtained an agreement with Capitol Records. The first was focused on R&B however, under Adderley's influence, she began to embrace jazz. Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley joined forces in 1962 and led to her rise up in the chart.
